One word...................BOOKED!!!
Received the call today from my commercial agent to say I
booked “King of California”! Wow! I’m so happy about this
accomplishment. I’ll have a supporting role in a Michael
Douglas feature film. Yay! Okay, I know, I know, I’ve done
film work before…but this one is different. My first feature
out here in LA.
We all know this business can be so tough, difficult and many
times negative. As an actor we’ll hear “No” so many more
times than we’ll ever hear “Yes”. But I have to say, I’ve been
Blessed by all the supportive people that I’ve met in this on-going journey. Whether that’s through the sincere generosity
of friends and fellow actors who are at places in their careers
that I’m trying to get to (Stephon, Lydia, and many others
come to mind), some of the absolutely wonderful and
supportive casting directors (Sally Stiner, Joanna Colbert,
Nan Dutton, etc.) that I know are rooting for me and of
course my family and friends that have been cheering me
on and rooting for me to make it. It’s so humbling.
Of course I know I’m Blessed and I’m just following God’s
lead. Anyone who knows me knows that I give thanks for my
Blessings whether I’m successful or not. (I’m not the fair-weather friend type.) Truth is, I’m Blessed to simply be here (I could’ve been killed in a major car accident back in ’99) and I’ve tried to appreciate life a lot more and be grateful for being able to even go through my trials and tribulations…as well as my successes.
But today we’re celebrating a success! What made it even
better was that my Mom was here when I received the news.
Awwww. Again, anyone who knows me, knows I’m not the
sentimental type…but damn. Having her here and being a
part of this was very special to me. I remember her going
through the scenes with me on her first day here before
I went to my “chemistry read”. Telling me how to do the
scenes. (Funny how mom’s just think they know everything.)
Asking if she can sit in on the audition. Smile. That’s a mom
for you! To see her face when I told her the news. I think
for once, she didn’t think I was on crack for leaving my
previous career to pursue my acting full-time. (Okay, maybe
she still feels that way….but she didn’t mention it this time.)
Ha! Thanks Mom…you made this wonderful day…ever better.
I love you!
Thanks to everyone who is with me on this journey…praying
for me, rooting for me and sending me positive vibes. You
KNOW I sincerely appreciate it. Thanks again.
