What About Angel.............The Shoot

Yesterday I shot my scene for "What About Brian". I had a GREAT time! My scene was with the title character Brian (Barry Watson). He was mad cool and we hit it off very well.
In this episode, he seems to have reached a crossroad in his life while at an out-of-the-way rest-stop in the middle of nowhere, and then gets into an unbelievably deadly accident: where he miraculously emerges totally unscathed. I play the emergency medic that appears on the scene and tries to treat him and get him to the hospital.
Now when I say out in the middle of nowhere.....trust me, we were out in the boonies! Oh and did I mention it was HOT as Hell!! Still, I had a nice sized trailer and the AC was definitely on Blast!
The director (Jonathan Pontell) was very nice and actor friendly. By the way, he's also an executive producer of the show. Who knows, maybe I'll have a chance to work with him again since he's also the executive producer for the show "Bones". That would be nice! Hey, I can dream can't I?!
Thank You God for making this happen. Again, I am VERY much humbled by You allowing me to pursue this dream. (I don't buy into the idea that all these victories are some sort of coincidence or luck.) Thanks again to all of you out there for keeping me in your prayers! I do believe in the power of prayer.
Believe it or not, I've even gotten some negativity lately from some unexpected sources....don't know why but they must have me confused with the wrong person....I don't deal with negative people, but it's cool...it's probably the devil messing with them....I'll be praying for them anyway. (Not into putting personal business out there but I feel obligated to talk about the good and the bad throughout this journey of ours.)
In any case, this is a VERY, VERY HAPPY post so let's end it on a high note! Now it's time to work on the next one! By the way, the episode is scheduled to be the Season Premiere and won't air until October. I'll announce it when we're closer to the date. Thanks again!

For Your Consideration: "Shadowboxer"
If you're interested in seeing something different this week @ the movies. Consider this:
Shadowboxer - Stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Helen Mirren, Stephen Dorff, Vanessa Ferlito, Macy Gray, Mo'nique, Joseph Gordon-Levitt....and of course your's truly Angel Oquendo has a small role in it.
Directed by 1st time director Lee Daniels (Who produced "Monster's Ball" & "The Woodsman").
THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FILM. It's Rated R (and even that might be a bit light), but as I've mentioned before I'm VERY proud to have been a part of this.
Enjoy and have a GREAT weekend everyone! (I'm walking out the door to go shoot "What About Brian")

One word...................BOOKED!!!
So I'm getting ready to head into my evening CD workshop when I get the call.....I've BOOKED a role on "What About Brian"!! Yay! Thank You God. I'm very happy about getting this one.
To be honest, Friday I felt a bit disappointed about my performance @ the "Gilmore Girls" Producer Session. (I had a memory lapse moment ....not pretty. Still I did my best to try and recover and ended the best that I could.) Oh well, you can't knock them all out of the park.....Who knows maybe I'm being overly hard on myself.
In any case, "What About Brian" definitely makes me feel much better. I dropped off at this office the day after I came back. They called me in on Friday and the CD mentioned she loved my postcard and is a big fan of Stanley Tucci. Awesome! Thanks for the prayers everyone.

Believe it or not, every audition this week has been a result of either one or all of those. I'm having a blast....it's very exciting to say the least. NOW ALL I HAVE TO DO IS BOOK! It would be great if I could book at least one of these. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

One word...................BOOKED!!!
So I'm back in Cali getting off the airplane, getting into a cab and I send my manager and commercial agent (yeah, I STILL can't even get a meeting with a theatrical agent....go figure.) an e-mail letting them know that I'm back, totally recharged and ready to get back to work!
My manager calls me back to tell me I BOOKED "Ocean's 13"!! Yay!!! Are you kidding me?! Now THAT's what an actor loves to hear just getting back into town! All I can say is THANK YOU GOD! Needless to say, I'm VERY excited about booking this one. My friend Stephon also booked a role on this one! Do your thing S!
A VERY, VERY sincere thanks to everyone who is rooting for me and more importantly praying for me on this journey. Professionally, this was one of those victories I will always remember! Thanks.

Catching up....while I'm out of the loop.
Well I've been out of town for the past 2+ weeks. I figured with this being the slow time of the season it was the best time to visit my family before the fall rush starts after the July 4th Holiday. We even had a chance to catch my episode of "Monk." I had a GREAT time!
But of course, wouldn't you know it.....while I was out of town I missed 3 auditions! Go figure. Wasn't this supposed to be the slow part of the season? Even though I wouldn't have changed a thing (sometimes you have to set some priorities and stick with them), I must say I was a bit bummed out about that. Still, looking at the glass half-full, I'm VERY happy that I was being thought of and called in by these casting directors (CDs). Hopefully, they'll call me in again when I get back. Right?!
Even though I've been gone....you know me, I was still hustling and sent out over 100 postcards announcing:
-Season Premiere of "Monk"
-"Shadowboxer" getting a limited theatrical release July 21st. (Yes, finally!)
-Wrapped filming "King of California" w/ Michael Douglas.
God Willing I'll be back on Monday ready to jump back into action. I'm VERY, VERY excited about this upcoming fall season. Take care, God Bless & please keep me in your prayers. Tks.
