Coming soon to a TV near you....and HEAT!!

Once again my friend D designed a great postcard for me. She's awesome! I basically gave her some some ideas, concepts, etc. and she ran with it! We would tweek things here and there and this is the final product!! It's at the printer as we speak and I'll be handwriting and mailing over 200 of them over the weekend! I know I should really use labels and stuff....but I just like to personalize stuff in my own handwriting. I'm sure it doesn't make a difference to the people who get them....but that's just me. What are you gonna do?! Smile. What do you think?

In my opinion, marketing yourself is just as important (if not more) than getting the actual gig and doing good work. What if you're GREAT and no one tunes to that channel to see your work? Afterall, eveyone has their own hustle going on. What if they don't know that you're actually getting booked out here? It's your responsibility to let people know that you're STILL on your hustle in this town kicking ass and taking names!! It's your job to generate that HEAT!! HEAT and WORK begets MORE HEAT and WORK!! Of course, if you're in a HUGE film or series, sometimes that may/may not take care of itself. Still, I'm not there.....YET! (Key word there folks...smile) In the meantime, every CD that I've met and/or who has brought me in will be getting one of these! Not to mention....announcing the booking and shooting of "Ocean's 13" and "King of California"! Gotta milk that HEAT while it's still hot!

Wow! In my previous post I mentioned dropping off my headshot to a number of CD's in the same building. Here's another one from that same drop-off. I've met this CD before at a workshop, but this is my first time actually auditioning for her. Straight to producers was very nice. I was very surprised to find a number of my fellow acting friends (I hate that term 'cause it sounds as if we couldn't be friends outside of acting....and that's definitely not the case. Just trying to make the distinction that I didn't out of the blue run into my homies from NY & DC at a Producer Session for The George Lopez Show." You know what I mean.

It was great to see my friends in the place....but Daddy had to stay focused and get myself ready for my turn at bat. As I'm walking to the restroom to freshen up (yeah, that sounds a bit diva'ish......I'm losing my street cred big time!) I run into George Lopez who is also an executive producer for the show. To be honest, I was kind of expecting him there anyway. Said what's up.....cooled down a bit from all the running around and finally went in to do my thing.

Felt great about the audition. George commented on how much he liked my read and that was that. Obviously, I didn't get the part......but at least I've made it into that office and I'm officially on their radar screen. I'll be back there again.

Thanks for all the prayers everyone!

The role of Detective Sanchez.

I met the Associate from this office at a workshop months ago. I decided to drop off at this CD office and three others located in the same building. Nothing too dramatic....just quietly went in dropped off my h/r and bounced. And they called! Yay!!!

This was my first time in for this office. Worked on this role quite a bit and felt pretty good about my pre-read. Didn't get a callback (personally, I think maybe they were skewing a bit older)...but that's cool. At least they know that I'm still here and bringing it. I'll be back in that office again soon!
