Angel in the Emergency Room..........ER that is!

If you recall from an earlier blog, I was pretty bummed out about losing out on my role on "Smith" due to the show being cancelled ........after 3 episodes (I still find that amazing.....wow). Still, I was excited about getting in that CD's office and booking. I also felt there might be something else for me in the future. Who knows?! The news wasn't that bad after all because that same week I booked a nice role on "Bones" and had a GREAT time shooting that!

Well, as God would have it.........a week later I was called back in to the CD of "Smith" for an audition...Did I mention he also casts "ER"?! Soooooo, yes, I booked a role on "ER"!!!! Yay!

Then came the interesting part: I had already made reservations to fly out of town on vacation for 10 days to visit my family.....and production wasn't sure what day they would need me to shoot. Do I scrap my whole trip for a one day gig? Do I pay the $600+ dollars to change my reservations by two weeks or so until after we're done shooting......whenever that is? Do I pass on this role and trust the fact that since that office obviously likes my work.....they might call me back again for another episode?
Then again, maybe not. Maybe I could lose that momentum too.

I prayed on it, spoke with my manager at length about it.....and I simply decided to leave it all in God's Hands. It is what it is....and I would cross that bridge when I got there. Sure enough, everything worked out PERFECTLY. They said they wouldn't need me until today the 27th. So I left for my vacation on time and simply came back last night (Thursday) instead of Sunday. It cost me only $25 to change my return leg of my flight.....gotta love that JetBlue y'all.

So I shot my scenes on "ER" today. Even though my role was VERY small (no small parts...right?!), I played a patient this time and had a GREAT time and EVERYONE in the cast was fun to work with and enjoyable. Hopefully, they'll keep my lines in this time!! Smile.

Thanks again for all the support, prayers and kind words. It does mean a lot. Hope you're enjoying this ride with me. I'm only gettting more and more hungry and motivated!
LET'S GET IT PEOPLE!!! ROAR!!!

Killer BATS!! Killer BATS!!....Run!! Hide!!

Feature Film Audition: "BATS 2” @ Rob Richards Casting.
------
So here's the description of this film: TERRORISTS CREATE A WMD USING SCIENTIFICALLY MUTATED BATS. A U.S. SPECIAL OPS TEAM IS SENT IN TO STOP THEM... Hilarious!! My audition was on Friday the 13th, no less. Ha!

But get this, I read for one of the LEAD roles in the movie. It gets better.....It shoots overseas for 3 1/2 weeks in BULGARIA!!! Yeah, BULGARIA!! Hey, I've traveled the world before....wouldn't mind doing the Europe thing again...Especially to shoot a movie! Needless to say, I was VERY excited about the opportunity to read for this role. By the way, for all my fellow actors......this came from just dropping off my headshot at the casting office. Yeah, Baby!

Okay folks, I'll be perfectly honest here...and this is between us (smile), I truly believe I gave THE BEST AUDITION I'VE EVER GIVEN in my entire life for this Feature Film "Bats 2". That's not to say I've been a slouch before. I've had great auditions that I've booked and not booked. (I've also booked on auditions that I've felt I totally bombed!)

Let me just say I was totally in the zone for this one and hit a HOMERUN!! It's not often with my TV auditions that I get the chance to work on some 'meaty roles' that I can totally sink my teeth into. This was definitely one of those and the CD was totally floored and impressed! Don't know if I'll get it or not (they might go with a NAME or something), and to be honest, I don't even care. It just felt GREAT to walk out of that office knowing that I did my best and for just that moment in time, with the stakes SO high and for such a HUGE part.....I WAS the character! Damn, that felt good!

Just wanted to share this one with you all. You would've been proud of me! Looking forward to more opportunities like this one. Thanks for keeping me in your prayers.

Shooting Bones.................'Angel' & Angel

David Boreanaz (Booth & formerly 'Angel') & I on the set of "Bones"

Yesterday I shot my scenes for "Bones". I had a GREAT time! (Truth is, I always have a great time when I'm working on a set!) My scenes were with David Boreanaz(Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, etc.) one of the leads of the show and Amanda Fuller a very talented young lady who was a guest star for this episode.

Amanda Fuller (patient) and Angel (nurse) on the set of "Bones"

I played a nurse at a psych ward who tries to calm down a patient that's going bizerk after being questioned by FBI Agent Booth. The director (Tony Wharmby) was awesome! Very nice and actor friendly. Maybe I'll have a chance to work with him again since he's also an Executive Producer on the show and directs other hit shows like "Without A Trace" and many others.

Just wanted to share this with all of you. Thanks so much for rooting for me and keeping me in your prayers. I'm Truly Blessed!

Good News and Bad News............

Okay I'll start off with the Bad News. So my season premiere episode of "What About Brian" aired last night. If you watched it you'll know that I was BARELY on the screen and they cut out ALL of my lines. Urrghh! Frustrating people...frustrating. Yes, I was still on the credits....but that's not the point. Not to mention all the postcards I've sent announcing the episode. Oh well.

Still, a glass half-full moment here if I may (all these half-full moments......can a brother get a full glass for a change?!..smile.) Here it goes:

1. The CD for the show called me to let me know my scenes had been cut.....at least they had me in mind and were thoughtful enough to do so. Right?!

2. Since my character wasn't really established at all....I'm hoping that maybe they'll bring me in again for another role or something. You never know!!

3. The Exec. Producer and Director of that "What About Brian" episode is ALSO the Exec. Producer of "Bones"!! Which brings me to the Good News!

I BOOKED that role on "Bones" I mentioned in my last blog!! Yay! In fact, I just shot my scenes today. I played a nurse at a phych ward. Had fun working on the set and I'll be putting some pics up soon!

That's it for now. Hope you're all doing great!!! Thanks so much for continuing to keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Short Film Audition: "4-Life” @ Bump It Casting.

One word.......on second thought, never mind!

Went in to Producers for "Smith" on Tuesday. Felt pretty good about the audition. Possible recurring role. Off book, confident, good, strong choices, etc. It's always nice seeing a familiar face
(I had just seen the Assoc. for that office @ a workshop recently.)

Happy to find out I was placed on avail for the 8th episode! Shooting next week. Yay! Today, I just heard from my manager that the show's been cancelled! After 3 episodes!!! Well alrighty then....Bummer.

But you know me, my glass half-full moment is the following:

1.This was my first time going in for John Frank Levey (ER, Third Watch, West Wing, etc.) and I "almost" booked it! Needless to say, I'm very happy about that first impression and maybe he and John Wells (Exec. Producer) will keep me in mind for something in the future!

2.As my friend Stephon and I have discussed a few times now.
If you're in the business long enough you WILL encounter things like this on your journey. It's that right of passage thing. Oh well, hopefully now I can cross this one off the list. smile.

In my opinion, it's all about how you choose to deal with bad news. Do you crumble or stand tall? Being a glass half-full person, I choose to look at this as nothing but a great, positive experience.

That's it for now.....Just thought I would share. Keep it positive people! Take care & God Bless.

ps. Went in for "Bones" today.....I'm on avail! Yay! Now if I hear THIS show is getting cancelled - I'm going POSTAL! You heard it here first. In the meantime, please keep me in your prayers.
