Hang in there chief...it'll get better...you'll see.

We have good news and bad news here people:

The bad news is that it seems as if I haven't booked a gig in ages. I'm obviously getting the auditions....but Daddy hasn't been able to close the deal. In my opinion, I feel it's only normal for an actor to start to question why he/she can't close the deal. After all we are human. But once you've been in this business for a bit, you'll start to see that there is sooooo much more to it than just your audition. Are you too tall, too short, too thin, too heavy, too dark, too light, do you look like someone the producer or director likes/dislikes, etc.

The point is.....there are so many other things at work besides your audition. Again, in my opinion, it's not always the best actor that gets the gig. The rule to this business is that there are no rules. With all that being said, being the frail creatures that we are....actors will still insist that it just has to be our fault that we didn't book the gig. We weren't good enough. We made the wrong choices. We're not ready for primetime yet. etc.

I won't sugarcoat things my friends: In some cases, that may very well be the truth. Everyone can't be awesome. Still, I honestly feel when you're in a good acting class and your instrument is sharp. When you're regularly working on your craft there comes a sense of confidence that serves as a very reassuring warm blanket. It reminds you that "it's not me.....it's them!" No one books them all. Even the best (Brando, DeNiro, etc.) were told no many more times than they were told yes. So don't lose faith. But in the meantime....keep that instrument sharp actors. If you're not in a class...you're wrong.

Okay, lecture is over: On the other hand, the good news is that I've been getting into a lot of new doors lately. Lots of casting directors that I've never met before. As the saying goes "It's not about booking a gig...it's about making a fan!" I feel great about all these new relationships that I've been making. Let's hope that it'll mean repeat business and they'll bring me back.

That's it for now. On another note, it's been a pretty rough past couple of months personally as well as professionally for me. Whew. You just don't know! Trust me....you just don't know. Still, I'm Blessed to be here and thank my family and friends for their continued love and support. As I mentioned to a close friend recently, safe choices in life beget safe results. It's only through great sacrifice that you'll achieve great success. I'm excited about the future becuase I know God has a plan for me. In the meantime, please keep me in your prayers.

I hear ya, Angel. Imagine those of us who are still struggling to get that many auditions. It's hard to say I'm an actor when I audition 4-5x a year for theatrical and much more for commercial. The Universe is changing that as we speak as they are changing your booking ratio, but it's hard to be patient. I hear ya loud and clear and thank god for friends. Chin up, I'm with ya!! ooxx B.

Found these great articles in the last newsletter from NowCasting. They talk about EXACTLY what your entry is about. Very exciting.
Enjoy! It helped me put things in perspective. :-) B.

Hey A,

I had an epiphany /sorta dream about you booking a pilot as a regular cast and you getting paid like $40,000 a week.

Receive it. Its on you now.

If there is anybody I believe will make it in this industry, it is you. Hang in there. Its always hard before it gets easy.

Awww...Angel! Just look at the last year of my life and how down it was--all the have a big burst of success after all the storm! I have faith in you, and I brag about you all the time to my friends here in MN...Sometimes it's like that...but remember the quote above through rough times...

And if all else fails--remember that Jesus loves you :) And I do too...
