CALLBACK AUDITION!!!: "Ebay” @ Skirts Casting
------
This audition was fun. One of the assistants recognized me from a previous commercial audition. In it's own way, that alone is small victory! It's all about relationships out here in LaLa land.

It has been well over a week...so I obviously didn't book this one. Still, everytime I get a callback and/or producer session, I feel like I'm "that close" to booking the gig. Exciting....isn't it?!

Hang in there chief...it'll get better...you'll see.

We have good news and bad news here people:

The bad news is that it seems as if I haven't booked a gig in ages. I'm obviously getting the auditions....but Daddy hasn't been able to close the deal. In my opinion, I feel it's only normal for an actor to start to question why he/she can't close the deal. After all we are human. But once you've been in this business for a bit, you'll start to see that there is sooooo much more to it than just your audition. Are you too tall, too short, too thin, too heavy, too dark, too light, do you look like someone the producer or director likes/dislikes, etc.

The point is.....there are so many other things at work besides your audition. Again, in my opinion, it's not always the best actor that gets the gig. The rule to this business is that there are no rules. With all that being said, being the frail creatures that we are....actors will still insist that it just has to be our fault that we didn't book the gig. We weren't good enough. We made the wrong choices. We're not ready for primetime yet. etc.

I won't sugarcoat things my friends: In some cases, that may very well be the truth. Everyone can't be awesome. Still, I honestly feel when you're in a good acting class and your instrument is sharp. When you're regularly working on your craft there comes a sense of confidence that serves as a very reassuring warm blanket. It reminds you that "it's not me.....it's them!" No one books them all. Even the best (Brando, DeNiro, etc.) were told no many more times than they were told yes. So don't lose faith. But in the meantime....keep that instrument sharp actors. If you're not in a class...you're wrong.

Okay, lecture is over: On the other hand, the good news is that I've been getting into a lot of new doors lately. Lots of casting directors that I've never met before. As the saying goes "It's not about booking a gig...it's about making a fan!" I feel great about all these new relationships that I've been making. Let's hope that it'll mean repeat business and they'll bring me back.

That's it for now. On another note, it's been a pretty rough past couple of months personally as well as professionally for me. Whew. You just don't know! Trust me....you just don't know. Still, I'm Blessed to be here and thank my family and friends for their continued love and support. As I mentioned to a close friend recently, safe choices in life beget safe results. It's only through great sacrifice that you'll achieve great success. I'm excited about the future becuase I know God has a plan for me. In the meantime, please keep me in your prayers.

The new season is almost upon us and it's time to GO TO WORK! Are you ready?! I hope so....you KNOW Daddy's ready! That's it for now. Here's to a GREAT episodic season for all of us! BOOK IT PEOPLE!! .....that was crazy! I mean nothing but pretty women all around me. Now that's my kind of audition! So there you have it, 3 in one day and 6 total auditions in the past six days! Wow! Now let's see if Daddy can just book ONE of these. I must say I felt really good about every one that I did. (You know I'm my own worst critic). Sooooo we'll see what happens. It's in God's Hands now. In the meantime, it's on to the next one. Have a GREAT 4th of July Holiday everyone and please keep me in your prayers.
