"Okay you're done! There may be some shiv left in the bone..."
Hope you're all doing GREAT. Sorry I haven't had the chance to regularly update you with what I've been up to. Trust me it's because I've been working overtime on my hustle out here and trying my best to put out some fires. Still, that's no excuse....I'll try my best to catch up over this weekend. So make sure to tune in next week.
On another note:
You probably already know I have small role tonight on the Season Premiere of "My Name Is Earl". If you get a chance, please check it out. Let me just warn you now that I haven't seen the episode yet and I have NO IDEA how much of my scenes made the final cut. Soooo...be warned. I believe I'll be in the second half of the one hour premiere. Meaning from 8:30 - 9:00pm....but things get changed around all the time so support yours truly and.....WATCH THE WHOLE SHOW! Smile.
My Name Is Earl - NBC/Thurs 27th@8pm (Prison Medic)
As always, thanks for all the support and please continue to keep me in your prayers.

Oh, I see.....umm, sure I can do that! Or not!
CALLBACK/PRODUCER'S SESSION!!!: "Dirty, Sexy, Money"
@ Johnson/Goldstein/Soltau Casting
------
Yes! That's what I'm talking about! With everything that I had to do yesterday, it was so nice to get word that I was going to producers. Yay! Even though I had met the associate once before in a workshop, this was my first time ever in this office.
When you get called to producers, in my mind, it reaffirms to the casting director that they made a good choice in bringing you in. You are most likely one of a only a handful of people who WILL get the role. In a place like Hollywood where almost EVERYONE is an actor...the fact that you're sooo close should NEVER go unnoticed.
With all that being said, I didn't feel my audition went well. Small technical details that are too long and complicated to explain....but basically, I should have taken more control of the audition and if the format wasn't working for me...I should have done something about it. It wasn't as if it was done on purpose to only work against me...I just don't think the format was considered very much. My glass half-full moment - Next time when it's for a much BIGGER role or project...I'll know better. Believe that.
Still, I'm very grateful for gettin in that door for the first time and I'm hoping to get back in there again sometime soon. Right?! Right!!!

Okay this was one of those days that I'll remember literaly years from now. Four auditions in one day.....and did I mention that my car broke down on me the night before. Yeah. It was one of those days.
But as I've said before and I'll say again. Life is all about adapting and overcoming. There's a mountain in the way - Some folks will just stop and cry about the mountain...while I'm working on tactics. Should I go around it? Under it? Over it? Through it? Is there really a mountain there? etc. See the problem and solve it. You can cry about it some other time...'cause right now, the clock is ticking. And of course another I'm learing is letting go and letting God! Really. Sometimes when that mountain is there...I'll just get on my knees, pray to God and maybe even force myself to relax, watch a movie, take a nap, etc.....and when I get back - everything has been resolved. Awesome isn't it? Still, I am human...I do bleed...and I sometimes find it hard to heed my own advice.
Back to the story - When I realized my car was out for the count, Daddy (me) had to think fast. Hello, four auditions tomorrow! Keeping in mind that I've always been very independant and I rarely ask for favors...I didn't want to ask to have someone drive me around. Since I live near an airport, I decided to rent a car for the day....or perhaps the week in order to have reliable transportation while Bessy(my car) is getting herself together.
My next door neighbor and good friend (who also happens to be an actor) offered to give me a ride to the car rental place. As so it went. I made it to every audition and more importantly, felt that I did a GREAT job at each one. That's the trap when you have a number of auditions at once. Yeah, it's great to be getting out so much..but can you make sure your performance is as good as if you only had one?
Overall, I had a GREAT day....even in the midst of the chaos and I thank God making it all work for me. Obviously, I didn't book any of them...but as the saying goes It's not about booking the gig...it's about making a fan! I felt I made some fans today...and reconnected with some previous ones.
That's it for now. Please keep me in your prayers.

TV Audition: "Cane” @ LaPadura/Hart Casting
------
I was so excited about this audition. It was for a Guest Star recurring role and I felt like I was perfect for it. I was informed that the audition was going to be put on tape for producers. Meaning that the role would be cast directly from the video.
Good News/Bad News:
Okay the Bad News first - When I showed up at the audition, I realized the audition went from "on tape for producers" to a pre-read with no tape. Maybe I'm wrong (and I don't think so), but I'm thinking the role was most likely offered to a celebrity or a "name", hence no need to tape it anymore...but since the sessions were already scheduled...they were nice enough to still bring us in. A bit of a bummer but, in my opinion, anytime you can get face time with the CD....that's a good thing.
Good News - The CD showed me lots of love. She really liked my work. Mentioned that she sees me in her office "all the time now" and was happy that I'm working and getting out on auditions. BELIEVE ME PEOPLE - It's a GREAT thing when you have CD's in Hollywood who know who you are and continuosly bring you in. NEVER DOWNPLAY THAT HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT!
That's it for now. Hopefully they'll bring me in again soon. I would love to book in this office! In the meantime, please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Embrace the friendships made along the way!
Feature Film Audition: "Step Brothers” @ Allison Jones Casting
------
This was a really fun audition. It's a comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. I won't go into too many details but my role was that of a prison inmate. Very funny! I would love to book this one.
Even though this was my first time in this office (YAY!), I knew the associate from a previous CD office that he worked at...in fact an office I booked a gig at! Real cool cat. He showed me a lot of love and said he saw me on "Ocean's 13" and was very happy for me and rooting for me. I thanked him and added that I'm very Blessed. I also mentioned that I had been following what offices he's been working at too. He seemed a bit surprised that I was even aware of his moves. Hey, I get it. It's a hustle for casting people too. He and I are both trying to make it in this business. We're both hard workers and we're both trying to get that big break. God Willing we'll make it HUGE in this business and we can say we knew each other when we first started out.
Back to the audition: So I went in. He put me on tape..and it was a wrap. Short and sweet. We'll see. Still, it was a great audition and I felt like I was reading my scenes with a friend.....and in fact, I was.

At least you're in the game......
TV Audition/PRODUCER'S SESSION!!!:
"Jericho” @ Bialy/Thomas Casting
------
I was really excited about going to this audition. This is one of my favorite offices. They always bring me in for roles. No, really, I must have been to this office at least 10 times! The sad part is, I still haven't booked with them yet. Yeah, tell me about it. Ha!
I remember at an audition in this office for a nice guest star role, one of the CD's reminded me that I shouldn't get frustrated that I hadn't booked with them yet. The reason they keep calling me in is because they really like my work. Wow! That's what I'm talking about! That's the whole point of this game and this hustle boys and girls. As a fairly new face in town, in my opinion, you want to get to a place where CD's know who you are, like your work and bring you in regularly! As I've heard it before...it's not about booking the gig, it's about making a fan!
So it was straight to producers and I was asked to prepare for two different roles. Yes! While I'm there I also ran into a friend who had just gone in before me. Cool dude..we do voice over work together.
I go in and the director, writers, and producers were really friendly. We briefly talked about my background in the military and intel community. They seemed really interested in that. Then I did my scenes with the CD. I felt the audition went GREAT! We all were laughing at the end of the audition and I really felt I would book one of the two roles.
Well, as I write this a few weeks later....I obviously didn't book the gig. Still, I felt great about that audition and I hope that the CD feels the same and will continue to bring me in.
I must admit...being human (yes, we do bleed), it does get a bit frustrating not being able to close the deal at times. But I've been in this business long enough to know that it's not me. I'm very focused, prepared, I have great acting coaches, and I do my best....it's not me. More likely it's that they want tall, short, thin, fat, a look, etc. That's a transition that I'm getting more and more comfortable with. Even though I don't book the gig, it feels nice to KNOW that it's not my performance. Still, again being human it does get frustrating at times. Just something we have to deal with people.
But I'll choose to be half-full and thank God for putting me in these situations. I know they all happen for a reason and one day I'll see why. Who knows, maybe this show will be interested in bringing me in for a much bigger role or something. Maybe one of the writers, producers or directors will work on another show...see my headshot and remember me. We'll see.
One consolation is that my friend (who I bumped into at the audition) actually booked one of the roles. I'm very happy for him. I figure if I didn't book it, I'm glad someone I'm down with did!
Hey, at least I'm in the game and I have a shot....and that's a good place to be. I'll get it next time! Right?! Please keep me in your prayers.

Thanks for the invite.......Yes, I WILL attend!
Okay Boys and Girls...Guess What?! Daddy finally gets an official invite...Yay! The wonderful people from "King of California" invited me to attend a Cast & Crew Screening of "our" movie.
For those not familiar, it's basically a private affair for only the Cast and Crew of the movie and their guests. It was held at Fox Studios and I had a great time. The Director (Michael Cahill) was greeting everyone at the entrance to the theatre. He gave me a big hug and showed me alot of love.
Let me just get this out of the way: I REALLY, REALLY enjoyed this movie. Look, I know that I'm excited about working in this business period...but I am so proud to be affiliated with this movie. Wow! I've been very fortunate to be able to say that about every movie that I've worked on so far...but this one was especially sweet. Not to mention, this was my first feature film that I booked after moving to LA.
About the film: The movie was so much fun. It will make you laugh, it will make you cry, it will make you reflect. It's about pursuing dreams, it's about redemption....it's a very special movie. By the way, Michael Douglas is AMAZING. No, REALLY - AMAZING! He is totally transformed into a role that you've never seen him in before. Evan Rachael Wood is also fantastic in this movie. Hey, even yours truly had a funny scene or two in the final cut. Yes, some of my scenes made the cut! Yay!
That's it for now. Just wanted to share this wonderful experience with you all. Thanks for tuning in and please keep me in your prayers.
