First, I had the audition for "Shark" at 20th Century Fox at 11:00am. I left around 9:45 to make it there on time....traffic was crazy. But it was cool. I'm just so happy to start getting out again on TV auditions. The CD was awesome. (Keep in mind I had previously booked "Bones" through this office. So I already have a lot of love for them.) I perform my scene and when I was done the CD surprised the hell out of me by what he would say next. He says to me:
CD - "Why did you make that choice?"
Angel - "Excuse me?"
CD - "Why did you make the choice to look away from my character when I was talking to you....I really like what you did, I'm just curious?"
I smile to myself, he's trying to see if it's a conscious choice or just luck or a fluke. So in a thoughtful, matter-of-fact way I said:
A - "Well, I'm supposed to be a BIG TIME criminal/gangbanger and we're both sitting in jail together...so I could give a $%#* about your character and what you're saying to me. $%#* you. "
CD - (He smiles) "I like that."
and then proceeded to redirect me slightly and we ran it a few more times. I guess what suprised me most was him taking the time to ask me about my choices. CD's don't usually take the time to do that. They're way too busy. You go in do your thing (they love it or hate it) and then you move on. I really apppreciated the fact that he wanted to scratch the surface and ask about my strong choices. Since I pride myself in studying and working very hard for every audition, I welcome that conversation any time. When we were done, he thanked me for coming in and asked if I could come back again at 3:45 to read for Producers. Uhh...Yeah! My first producer session for 2008! I'll take that!
So I get out of the audition around 11:45...on my way to Glendale for the "Vacancy 2" audition flying through traffic. I picked up my next door nieghor on the way (who has been an awesome friend to me ever since I've met him) so we could run lines on my way to the audition. He gets a kick out of running lines with me for my auditions and learning some of my tactics in this business and I get an awesome reader and someone who is very cool peeps with tons of positive energy.
We get to Glendale and I make my way to the audition. It's the first time I've been in this office since they've moved about 6-8 months ago from Hollywood. Still, the folks here have always been nice to me and I feel really respect my work. This particular audition, I was reading for the role of a Police Officer. There were 4 people in the room. The CD, the assitant, and two others (who I believe were the Director and Writer.) I went in there and felt very strong and confident and did my thing. Afterwards the Director asked me if I ever WAS a cop because he felt that I had such command of the room and was so strong and still. Like someone whose had lots of experience. I smiled and said no but of course mentioned my background in the military and how I often play strong (cop/security guard) roles. He said how much he liked my performance, we shook my hands and I was outta there. We'll see what happens. It's in God's Hands now.
So I drop my neighbor off and before you know it, time to head back to Fox Studios. I get there at 3:45 exactly, do my scene on camera in front of the CD, his assistant & the Director/Producer. It felt good and that was pretty much it. Thanks all around (they thank me for coming in...I thank them for bringing me in) and it's a wrap! Whew!
Did I mention that when I get back home I only have a few hours to rest because at 7:00pm I'll be at a CD workshop? Yeah! Nice long, busy, great day! Now all of today's work is over and it rests in God's Hands. It's on to the next one. In the meantime, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

I had to laugh when I read the part about the CD asking you about your choice (trying to see if it was a conscious choice or not). If he didn't know, now he knows: You do the work and leave nothing to chance.
Keep bringing the fire.
