Works well with others or on his own!!

TV Audition: Pilot "Sons Of Anarchy” @ Wendy O'Brien Casting
------
I've become such a HUGE fan of this casting director. She and her assistant are always so nice to me. It's like visiting with friends....and believe me, I don't say that lightly...but that's how warm it feels to visit them. With that being said, trust me, I'm still focused and totally bringing it when it's audition time. But if you've been on my team for a while now.....ummm, you already knew that right?! Just checking...making sure you're not dozing. But I digress.

I love working with CD's that try to put actors in a position to win. Whether that means you get a chance to do a test run or the fact that they encourage you to show off a few different choices. If nothing else, it helps the actor feel even more conifident and also makes the audition feel more like a collaborative effort. That's what I'm talking about! Actors and CD's all have different styles and each actor needs to know how to read each room he/she enters. Trust me...there are many great offices that simply don't have the time to make things all "warm and fuzzy". I get it. I love going into those offices too. My mindset is simply to go in, read the room, drop that STRONG, FIERCE audition, and leave them wanting more. ROAR!! Haha!

Oh, and did I mention this was the CD that booked me in "The Slammin' Salmon" that I shot last month?! Yes! That's always a beautiful thing. I'm hoping to visit this office again and again in the future. That's it for now. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

Thanks for a wonderful 2007! Here's to the 08!

I don't know about you, but I absolutely love my latest postcard. My friend Denise and I collaborated on this one and I'm very excited about it. Personally, I think she makes miniature works
of art and I'm very happy to be working with her on them.

Shorty is dropping bombs people! Here are some of our previous postcards for Monk and What About Brian

So, if you ever find that you're interested in getting your marketing hustle on. (Don't forget that's one part of the total "working actor" pie chart in my "Tips For The Working Actor, By A Working Actor" book. (that I'm STILL working on...Geez. I should be done by now...but I digress.) I TOTALLY recommend her. Drop me an e-mail and I'll send you her contact info and her upcoming website. Thanks again D! I'm hoping that we'll have many more projects to promote this year! ROAR!!

That's it for now. Hope everyone reading this is happy and doing great! Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers. Tks. A.

"Oh My God! Oh My God! Oh My God!"

TV Audition: "America's Most Wanted” @ Billy DaMota Casting
------
No, the title isn't meant to suggest any earth shattering news for yours truly. I only put that there in case you've seen the commercials for the Film "Cloverfield" that opens today. That idiot you hear screaming "OH MY GOD" when Lady Liberty's head comes flying through the streets is the voice of yours truly. Funny.

Some of you may know that I occasionally do voice-over work on Films and TV...but since it doesn't really serve my acting resume...I don't usually post about any of them. Still, I got a kick out of hearing this one on TV all the time...so I thought you might get a kick out of it too! Enjoy! Ha! A.

You want a legend......Awww!

Well it's the first full week on 2008 and I'm Blessed to say that I've been busy working.

Living Legend Carol Burnett & Angel Oquendo on hanging out on set

I had an awesome time with the cast and crew of "The Post-Grad Survival Guide. My scenes were with the living legend Carol Burnett (who was SUCH a sweetheart to work with), the hilarious Jane Lynch (40 Yr. Old Virgin, Best in Show, For Your Consideration, etc.), the sweet Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) and many other very talented people!

Jane Lynch & Angel after we've just wrapped shooting our scenes

It was the sweetest thing to work with the living legend herself...Carol Burnett. She is SUCH a sweetheart. I've be fortunate and Blessed to work with some HUGE stars in the short time I've been doing this but even I have to admit this was the closest I've even been to being Starstuck. It's not due to how BIG of a star she is, was, etc. It's that I grew up watching Ms. Burnett. It felt as if I was finally meeting a long time family member. I know it sounds crazy but it's true. And almost as if she were reading my mind Ms. Burnett didn't disappoint at all. I'm not talking about being funny or doing her scenes, etc.....I'm talking about smiling at me, sharing delightful conversations with me and of course the warms hugs. It felt like I was working with a friend. Thanks you for a WONDERFUL experience I'll neve forget.

Vicky Jenson (Dir. "The Post-Grad Survival Guide") & Angel Oquendo

The director is Vicky Jenson. She is so nice to work with, loves actors and knows exactly what she wants. She co-directed a small movie called "Shrek" and another small movie "A Shark's Tale"! I'm looking forward to working with her again in the next week or so (I still have some additional scenes to shoot with Michael Keaton so that should be lots of fun!) as well as in the future.

Thanks again everyone for sharing this experience with me! Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

The Holiday's are over...now get back to work!

Today I worked on "The Slammin' Salmon". I had an awesome time on the set. The whole Broken Lizard crew was great. The director Kevin Heffernan was a cool cat (he's also an actor) and very fun to work with. My scene was with Jay Chandrasekhar (another talented actor and director...he directed "Dukes of Hazzard").....dude is funny! Had me cracking up in our scene. And then that was it. One short scene....short and sweet...and I'm done. That's cool. I'll take those short day too! Smile.

So I'm on the set of the movie and I've going down the call sheet...and I recognize a friend and fellow classmate on the call sheet. Shorty was one of the leads in the film! That's what I'm talking about! We caught up with each other during lunch and just rooted each other on and shared a nice moment. I mean April is working regularly anyway....but I guess I was just surprised that she was a lead in the film. That's so inspiring to me....because that's what I'm trying to do. It'll come...but in the meantime....I wanted her to know how happy I was for her. And trust me...I've seen her work regularly in class and on TV....super talented and one of the sweetest and most humble actors that I've been fortunate to meet. And I would have totally said the same things if she wasn't in the movie. Cool people.

As I've mentioned before, it's always fantastic to be working....but sometimes it's even more special (if that's possible) when you get the chance to work with a friend. So needless to say, I am sooooo happy for her and hope this roles leads to many, many more huge opportunities. Yes, a great day! What a way to come back from the Holidays! Looking forward to this year. I'm so excited...are you?! The year is pregnant with possibilities! 2008 is GOING to be GREAT! ROAR!!! Smile.
